I came to the Czech Republic just by chance, while traveling through Europe. I loved Prague so much that I decided to stay for as long as I could (since I don’t have en EU citizenship). I took it to find some job that could allow me to pay for rent and eat, and after a while doing harvest and watching autumn/winter arrive – and along with that, the end of my source of incomes – I started researching other possibilities.

I got a part time job in a newly opened bar, and after a while there, I noticed an advertisement on Facebook published by a woman called Daniela, asking for assistants. We arranged an interview, spoke about her and me, and I started assisting her some days later.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did; talking entire afternoons about politics, geography, history, literature, etc, while cooking meals, cleaning the apartment, doing the laundry and groceries, or joining her to the physiotherapist, the museum or wherever she felt like going.

Unfortunately, due to visa issues, I had to leave the country much earlier than I would have liked, but I regard the short time we spent together as a real nourishing one, as well as fun. She’s a very friendly and intelligent person, straightly clear on what she expects from you, and so easy going it was a real pleasure to meet her and to spend that time assisting her.

With Daniela, I could get to talk about almost any topic, as well as keep some time to do my own stuff while she did hers. I get the feeling that, with her, it is all about being responsible and respectful. The remaining comes along easily, and as for me, I surely don’t regret any minute I spent at this experience.

I met other assistants as well, nice people, and I must say, as a little anecdote, that I even fell in love with one of them. So, as a brief resume of my experience: I flew away from Prague leaving a good friend there, we still talk and share, and I will definitely pay her a visit as soon as I return to that beautiful place.

Don’t hesitate on getting in touch with Daniela if you want to be her assistant. You’ll learn everything there is to learn about it, don’t even worry about that, and if you allow yourself to take this a little further – I mean, not just cleaning the apartment, but also sharing –, you will surely make real good friends with her.

As for you, Daniela, I’m doing fine with new adventures, missing you, and I am thankful to have met you. Wishing you all the very best, you certainly deserve it!

Isidro was working as a bartender at the time of doing assistance. He was visiting Daniela for 5-8 hours several times per week in the period of 5 weeks since the end of October till the beginning of September 2019. He had to leave the Czech Republic involuntarily but if you could come back for a short visit in February 2020, he did not hesitate to visit Daniela as a friend again.
